Parents and administrators at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary (SHVES) had to think outside of the box to motivate and reward students for their hard work during a recent fundraiser. The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) at SHVES held a fun run to raise money for various initiatives at the school. The goal? $10,000. To everyone’s delight, they reached the goal which meant principal Tyla Moody would reward students with an unusual stunt-she had to kiss a goat on the school’s morning newscast.
“I told the school that if they reached their goal that I would kiss a farm animal,” she said. “It was interesting kissing the goat, but I might do it again for the children if they accomplished another goal such as this one.”
Principal Moody says the smooch with the goat wasn’t too baaaaad.
Among the milestones leading up to the goat kiss was two staff members were ‘pied’ in the face, also during the morning news, when students made it to 50 percent of their goal. All money raised will go to support the students and staff at SHVES.
