The kindergarteners at Hominy Valley Elementary turned their gym into a barnyard stage as they welcomed parents for a heartwarming Wit & Wisdom showcase full of singing, dancing, and hands-on learning.
Dressed in flannel shirts, denim, and bandanas, the students kicked off the event with a crowd-pleasing performance of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” Parents smiled from the bleachers as their little farmers sang loud and proud, each one chiming in with animal sounds that filled the gym with laughter and applause.
After the final “E-I-E-I-O,” the students hopped off the stage and invited their parents to join them for a square dance. With music playing and teachers helping lead the way, the gym floor turned into a dance hall, full of twirling kids and smiling parents trying to keep up with the steps.
From there, students led their parents back to their classroom to show off their work and to dive into a hands-on activity – making butter. With jars of heavy cream in hand, students and parents took turns shaking until the cream turned into soft butter.
Families enjoyed their homemade creation on slices of bread, savoring the reward of teamwork and a little elbow grease.
