For the past 13 years, Claudia Camacho has been an important part of the Glen Arden Elementary family. As a Dual Language first grade teacher assistant, she brings energy, culture, and heart into the classroom every day.
Before joining the Rams, Claudia taught in her native country of Colombia. That experience continues to shape her teaching style and inspires her to share her language, culture, and heritage with students. She sees each day as an opportunity to open young minds to the richness of bilingual learning.
“My greatest joy is seeing students embrace the Spanish language while also gaining an appreciation for my culture,” Claudia shared. “It’s more than teaching words - it's about creating connections that last a lifetime.”
Principal Laura Kirchner says Claudia's influence goes far beyond academics.
“Ms. Camacho is a bright light of sunshine here at Glen Arden,” she explained. “Her positive and upbeat attitude is contagious, and her love for the students, staff and community is evident in everything she does.”
Claudia’s love for teaching and her students shines through in every interaction, making her a beloved teacher and mentor at Glen Arden. Her commitment to bilingual education helps prepare students to be global citizens, ready to learn, lead, and thrive.
As we celebrate National Teacher Assistant Day, Buncombe County Schools extends a heartfelt thank you to Claudia and to every teacher assistant across the district. Your dedication, support, and love for students make a lasting difference every single day.
