Letter From the Principal

Dear Parents,

The cold and flu season is upon us!  If your child is running a temperature, please keep them at home for twenty-four hours after the fever is gone.  This is without fever reducing medications.  We really appreciate your help with trying to reduce the spread of germs.  Our custodians and teachers are wiping and sanitizing each day as well.  Hopefully, spring is coming soon!

Again, I want to encourage you to participate in the Homework Diners each Tuesday afternoon from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Enka Middle School.  I know many of you attended this event in December.  I was most impressed with this program!  Every student from kindergarten to twelfth grade and their family from the Enka District are welcome to attend.  Your family will receive a free meal and free tutoring for your child.  Licensed teachers are on hand to assist with this.  I have heard that the meals are quite elaborate and tasty!  The December meal looked very good!  I hope that you will take advantage of this community event!

Your child recently received their report cards.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher.  I know that they are always willing to talk to you about your child’s progress.  One of the most important things that you can do at home is read to and with your child.  When we see children who are great readers, chances are literacy has been stressed at home.  It is never too late to emphasize the importance of reading!

Thank you for all that you do to support Pisgah!

Jeanann Yates
